Lady Roadrunners open second semester with victory
Sedalia, Mo.-The 15th-ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s basketball team got off to a fast start to defeat Treasure Valley Community College 89-46 on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

SFCC (15-0) jumped out to a 24-17 advantage at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
"I think the girls are tired of playing against each other," said Lady Roadrunners head coach Nicole Collier. "They were ready to compete against someone else. I thought our group was ready to play. We got a lot of people a lot of playing time today, which is what we were looking for."
Sophomore forward Ellie Buscher of St. Louis, Mo. recorded 17 points in the opening quarter. SFCC took a 43-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Lady Roadrunners extended the advantage to 68-35 at the end of three quarters.
The Lady Roadrunners had six players who scored in double figures in the contest. Freshman guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. led in scoring with 20 points. Buscher finished the game with 19 points and finished her double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Kamaree Pollard of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and sophomore guard Sophia Edwin of Killeen, Texas contributed 11 points each. Freshman guard Maliyah White of Minneapolis, Minn. and freshman forward Taylor Wilson of Copperas Cove, Texas added 10 points each. Edwin dished out a team-high six assists. Sophomore guard/forward Carolyn Foster of O'Fallon, Ill., and White tied for the team lead in steals with four.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7 with a game at Mineral Area College. The contest will be the Region 16 opener for SFCC. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
