Lady Roadrunners win ninth consecutive game
Parsons, Kan.- The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s basketball team used a fast start to secure a road victory 79-69 at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. on Friday, Nov. 21.
Parsons, Kan.- The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's basketball team used a fast start to secure a road victory 79-69 at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. on Friday, Nov. 21.
SFCC (9-0) jumped out to a 27-9 lead in the first quarter. The Lady Roadrunners led 45-29 going into the locker room at halftime. Labette outscored SFCC 23-17 in the third quarter. The Lady Roadrunners made the necessary plays in the final quarter to come away with a road victory.
Six Lady Roadrunners scored in double figures for the game. Sophomore guard Sophia Edwin of Killeen, Texas led in scoring with 16 points and tied for the team lead in assists with four. Freshman guard Kamaree Pollard of Mt. Vernon, Ill. contributed 14 points, pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and tied for the team lead in assists with four. Pollard also led the team in steals with three. Freshman forward Taylor Wilson of Copperas Cove, Texas, freshman guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. and freshman guard Maliyah White of Minneapolis, Minn. all contributed 12 points. Reed also led the team in blocked shots with two. Freshman forward Z'Mharie Barber of Melbourne, Fla. chipped in with 10 points.
The Lady Roadrunners will return to action on Monday, Nov. 24 for their annual Field Trip Day game against Haskell Indian Nations University Junior Varsity. Tipoff from the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center is scheduled for 12 p.m.
