Lady Roadrunners continue unbeaten streak
Hutchinson, Kan.-The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s basketball team opened their portion of the Hutch Women's Classic with a 71-65 victory over Otero College on Friday, Nov. 14 in Hutchinson, Kan.
Hutchinson, Kan.-The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's basketball team opened their portion of the Hutch Women's Classic with a 71-65 victory over Otero College on Friday, Nov. 14 in Hutchinson, Kan.
SFCC (6-0) trailed 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Roadrunners outscored Otero 21-13 in the second quarter to take a 37-30 lead into halftime. The Lady Roadrunners held onto a 56-54 lead at the end of three quarters. SFCC made the necessary plays in the fourth quarter to emerge with the victory.
Sophomore forward Ellie Buscher registered yet another double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead her team in both categories. Sophomore guard/forward Carolyn Foster also had a double-double in the contest with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Zoe Newland contributed 13 points. Freshman guard Chloe Reed pitched in with 13 points and a team-high three steals. Sophomore guard Sophia Edwin dished out a team-high nine assists in the game.
SFCC will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15 with a game against Murray State College in the Hutch Women's Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
