Lady Roadrunners finish spring break trip strong
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team wrapped up their portion of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic winning a pair of games on Thursday, March 19 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Myrtle Beach, S.C.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team wrapped up their portion of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic winning a pair of games on Thursday, March 19 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. In the opening game, SFCC defeated Morton College 8-0 in five innings because of the run rule. SFCC (10-9) defeated Lackawanna College 2-0.
In the game against Morton College, sophomore first baseman/outfielder Courtney Dehn of Dearborn had two doubles, to go along with two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill also had a pair of hits, including a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Sophomore catcher Chelsye Graham of Ash Grove had two hits, including a triple and two RBIs. As a team, the SFCC offense put together 10 hits.
Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Clark struck out five and walked one to earn the victory.
In the final game against Lackawanna College, the SFCC offense produced six hits. Freshman catcher Piper Costello of Lee's Summit had a pair of hits including a triple to go along with an RBI and a run scored to lead the SFCC offense. Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia added a hit and an RBI. Freshman outfielder/utility player Jillian Reller of Elsberry added a hit and run scored. Freshman utility player Shyanne Weibrecht of Perryville had a hit. Freshman shortstop/utility player Haylee Cobb of Warsaw added a hit.
Freshman pitcher Corinne Tuck of Braymer went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Tuck gave up no runs on one hit, struck out 11, and walked two.
SFCC will return to action in a Region 16 doubleheader at Crowder College on Tuesday, March 24. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
