Lady Roadrunners use balanced scoring effort to continue winning streak
Moberly, Mo.-The 13th-ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s basketball team picked up a 90-44 victory over Moberly Area Community College on Wednesday, Jan.14 in Moberly, Mo.
Moberly, Mo.-The 13th-ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's basketball team picked up a 90-44 victory over Moberly Area Community College on Wednesday, Jan.14 in Moberly, Mo.
SFCC (18-0, 3-0 in Region 16) led 23-17 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Roadrunners outscored Moberly 19-5 in the second quarter to take control of the contest and never looked back.
Sophomore guard Zoe Newland of St. Louis, Mo. and freshman guard Maliyah White of Minneapolis, Minn. tied for the team in scoring with 15 points each. White made four three-point shots in the contest. Sophomore forward Ellie Buscher of St. Louis, Mo. continued her consistent play with yet another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Buscher also dished out a team-high five assists and blocked a team-high three shots. Buscher is the reigning Region 16 Player of the Week. Freshman forward Taylor Wilson of Copperas Cove, Texas also pitched in with 13 points and a team-high four steals. Sophomore guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. chipped in with 10 points.
SFCC shot 46% from the field as a team in the contest to go along with 36.8% from beyond the three-point arc. The Lady Roadrunners held Moberly to 27% from the field as a team and forced 28 turnovers in the contest.
SFCC will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 with a home Region 16 game against Crowder College. Tipoff from the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
