Lady Roadrunners drop a pair of road contests

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team lost a pair of Region 16 games at St. Charles Community College, 13-4 in five innings in game one because of the run rule and 8-0 in six innings because of the run rule.

In game one, SFCC (11-16, 1-9 in Region 16) was held to eight hits. Freshman third baseman Morgan Marshall of St. Joseph. had two hits including a double. Marshall also recorded three RBIs. Freshman utility player Jaden Mauzey of Mendon added a triple. Freshman pitcher/second baseman of Fulton scored a pair of runs.

Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia got the start in the circle for SFCC. Meyer pitched two innings, gave up nine runs (three earned runs) on eight hits, and walked three batters.

In game two, the Lady Roadrunners were held to just two hits. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill had a double. Freshman outfielder/utility player Jillian Reller of Elsberry added a single.

Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Clark pitched five innings, gave up eight runs (five earned runs) on 13 hits, and walked one.

SFCC will return to action on Thursday, April 2 with a Region 16 doubleheader at home against North Central Missouri College. First pitch is currently scheduled for 2 p.m. at the new softball field on campus.
