Lady Roadrunners open season
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team lost a pair of games 8-0 in six innings to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and 6-1 to Southwestern Community College on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Branson Bash in Branson, Mo.

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team lost a pair of games 8-0 in six innings to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and 6-1 to Southwestern Community College on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Branson Bash in Branson, Mo.
in the opening game against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, freshman outfielder/utility player Jillian Reller of Elsberry recorded the only hit for SFCC.
Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia got the start in the circle for SFCC. Meyer pitched five innings, gave up three runs on five hits, struck out one and walked three. Freshman Corinne Tuck of Braymer pitched one-third of an inning and gave up five runs on five hits.
In the second game of the day against Southwestern Community College, the SFCC offense put together seven hits. Sophomore utility player Jenna Herald of Monett recorded a double and scored a run. Reller added a hit. Meyer contributed a hit and an RBI. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill, freshman catcher Piper Costello of Lee's Summit, Katlyn Starke of Linn, and freshman utility player Shyanne Weibrecht of Perryville all added one hit in the game.
Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Clark pitched five innings, gave up five runs on six hits, struck out one, and walked one. Freshman Addison Wallace of Carthage came out of the bullpen to pitch the final two innings. Wallace gave up one run on two hits.
SFCC (0-2) will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 with two more games at the Branson Bash. SFCC will take on East Central College with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. SFCC will close out their portion of the event with a game against Eastern Oklahoma State College with first pitch scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
