Three Roadrunners earn All-Region 16 honors
Sedalia, Mo.-Sophomore midfielder Malachai Bonney and sophomore striker Nathan McCollin have been named to the First-Team All-Region 16.
Sedalia, Mo.-Sophomore midfielder Malachai Bonney and sophomore striker Nathan McCollin have been named to the First-Team All-Region 16. Freshman striker Mohammad Sami Goodarzi has been named to the Second-Team. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the Region.
Bonney played in 14 games and started in 13. Bonney scored five goals and recorded five assists this season. Bonney totaled 15 points.
"Malachai is a true leader," said head coach Michael Poropat. "It runs in his family. His brother Mosiah was named All-Region both seasons he played here. Malachai is the heart and soul of the team."
McCollin played in 13 games and started in 11 for SFCC. McCollin scored two goals and added three assists this season. He totaled seven points.
"Nathan is a really important player," said Poropat. "He has been playing through injuries all season. He is probably the most fouled player that I have ever coached. I am very happy for him."
Goodarzi played in 16 games and started in 14 games as a freshman. Goodarzi scored eight goals and added two assists. He recorded 18 points this season.
"Sami is an amazing striker," said Poropat. "He is the complete package. He has size, strength, speed, and his soccer IQ is off the chart. He can finish in every situation. He is a big game player."
