Roadrunners fall at Jefferson College

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team dropped a pair of games at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo. on Sunday, April 19.

SFCC (22-27, 9-19 in Region 16) fell in game one 11-1 in five innings because of the run rule. SFCC lost game two 9-1 in seven innings because of the run rule.

In game one, SFCC was limited to five hits as a team. Middle infielder Dayton Doll of Platte County, Mo. had a pair of hits and a walk. Outfielder Collin Ross of Branson, Mo. recorded a double. Outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Mo. had a hit and a run scored. Infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo. had a hit and an RBI.

Pitcher Jake Riggin of Lee's Summit, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Riggin pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up nine runs, (eight earned runs), struck out eight, and walked three.

In game two, SFCC was held to four hits as a team. Ross recorded a hit. Wassmann hit a home run to drive in the only run of the game for SFCC. Catcher Carter Rice of Sedalia, Mo. had a hit. Middle infielder Christian Kuchta of Liberty, Mo. also recorded a hit.

Pitcher Brayden Beckmann of Ashland, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Beckmann pitched five innings, gave up five runs, (four earned runs) on 10 hits, and struck out four.

SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, April 21 with a single game at North Central Missouri College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
