Roadrunners split a pair of games with nationally ranked Crowder
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team split a doubleheader with 24th ranked Crowder College on Saturday, April 4. SFCC (16-23, 8-16 in Region 16) lost the opening game 5-3 before bouncing back to take game two 5-2.

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team split a doubleheader with 24th ranked Crowder College on Saturday, April 4. SFCC (16-23, 8-16 in Region 16) lost the opening game 5-3 before bouncing back to take game two 5-2.
In game one, outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Mo. led the SFCC offense with three hits including a double and an RBI. Outfielder Collin Ross of Branson, Mo. contributed a pair of hits and a run scored. Middle infielder Dayton Doll of Platte County, Mo. hit a solo home run.
As a team, SFCC put together nine hits in the game.
Pitcher Evan Bishop of Boonville, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Bishop pitched three innings, gave up four runs (three earned runs) on five hits. Bishop struck out four and walked four. Pitcher Carter Hollingsworth of St Peters, Mo. came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings, gave up one run on two hits, struck out two, and walked one.
In game two, Wassmann added two more hits. Infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo. added a double and drove in a pair of runs. Outfielder Drake Odneal of Smithville, Mo. and corner infielder Andrew Hill of Columbia, Mo. hit a home run each in the game. The Roadrunners recorded six hits as a team.
Pitcher Jake Riggin of Lee's Summit, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Riggin tossed eight innings and gave up two runs on five hits. Riggin struck out four and walked two. Pitcher Maverick Gentry of Polo, Mo. came out of the bullpen to pitch one inning, gave up one hit, and walked one to finish the game for the Roadrunners.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, April 7 for a single game against Allen County Community College. First pitch from Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.
