St. Charles, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) split a pair of Region 16 games against St. Charles Community College on Saturday, March 21 in St. Charles, Mo. St. Charles won the opening game 12-2 in five innings because of the run rule. SFCC (11-18, 5-11 in Region 16) snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 14-10 victory in game two.
In game one, the SFCC offense was held to two runs on six hits in the contest. Utility player Malachi Antle had a pair of hits including a double. Middle infielder Ty Hall of Greene City, Mo. and first baseman Grayson Harris of Independence, Mo. drove in a run each for SFCC.
Pitcher Evan Bishop of Boonville, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Bishop pitched three innings, gave up 11 runs, nine earned runs on eight hits. Bishop struck out one and walked three.
In game two, the SFCC offense put together 14 runs on 14 hits. Utility player Casen Lett of Parkville, Mo. had three hits including two doubles to lead the SFCC offense, Lett also drove in a pair of runs and scored one. Middle infielder Dayton Doll of Platte County, Mo. had a pair of hits including a double, scored three times, and drove in a run. Antle doubled and scored three times. Outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Mo. had a pair of hits including a home run, drove in four runs and scored three times. Catcher Carter Rice of Sedalia, Mo. added two hits including a home run and drove in two runs. Catcher Albert Salguera of Caracas, Venezuela doubled and drove in a run. Outfielder Drake Odneal of Smithville, Mo. had a pair of hits in the game.
Pitcher Jake Riggin of Lee's Summit, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Riggin pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up nine runs, six earned runs on eight hits. Riggin walked two and struck out one. Mason Morris of Unionville, Mo. came out of the bullpen to pitch 1 2/3 innings, gave up a pair of unearned runs, walked three and struck out one. Pitcher Brayden Beckmann of Ashland, Mo. pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, giving up one unearned run on two hits with one strikeout.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, March 24 for a single game at home against John Wood Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
