Roadrunners split a doubleheader with Frontier Community College
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team split a pair of high-scoring contests against Frontier Community College on Friday, Feb. 20 at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.

Sedalia, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team split a pair of high-scoring contests against Frontier Community College on Friday, Feb. 20 at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field. SFCC (4-6) lost game one 27-8 in five innings before bouncing back to win game two 12-11 in eight innings.
In game one, catcher Jose Arquez of Columbia, South America led the SFCC offensive attack with a pair of home runs, to go along with four RBIs and two run scored. Outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte city, Mo. also hit a home run and drove in three runs. Utility player Malachi Antle of Licking, Mo. also drove in a run. As a team, the SFCC offense put together six hits.
Pitcher Hunter Jones of Branson, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Jones pitched two innings, gave up 16 runs on nine hits, struck out two, and walked six. Jones was given the pitching loss.
In game two, middle infielder Dayton Doll led the team with four hits including a double. Doll also scored twice. Utility player Casen Lett of Parkville, Mo. hit a home run and drove in four runs. Antle contributed three hits, drove in a pair of runs, and scored twice. Wassmann contributed a double and two runs scored. Infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo. doubled and drove in two runs. First baseman Jake Kruse also drove in a pair of runs along with Arquez. As a team, the SFCC offense produced 13 hits in the comeback victory, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning.
Pitcher Evan Bishop of Boonville, Mo. got the start on the mound for the Roadrunners in game two. Bishop pitched three innings, gave up seven runs on six hits, struck out three, and walked five. Mason Kates of Lee's Summit, Mo. pitched the final two innings, struck out three, and walked two for SFCC.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 24 with a single game at Allen County Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
