Lady Roadrunners claim critical road victory
St. Louis, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s soccer team picked up a 4-2 victory in their Region 16 regular-season finale against St. Louis Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in St. Louis, Mo.

SFCC (8-6, 3-3 in Region 16) got on the scoreboard first with a goal from sophomore forward Ella Smith to give SFCC the advantage in the opening half. Smith added another goal to put SFCC up 2-0 in the second half.
St. Louis fought back to tie the game at two. However, Smith had the answer, scoring two more goals on a pair of long shots to put the game away. Smith continues her prolific goal scoring season which currently has her near the top of the goal scoring list in NJCAA Division II with 23 goals for the year. Smith led the team in shots with seven.
Sophomore Adamaris Ramirez recorded an assist in the match. Freshman defender Sabrina Meloy added a pair of assists in the match. Freshman winger Catherine Armenta also contributed an assist.
The Lady Roadrunners also did the job defensively to secure the important victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Valeria Morales made nine saves in the match.
SFCC will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 26 in a Region 16 Tournament Quarterfinal match against Jefferson College in Sedalia, Mo. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
