Lady Roadrunners drop match to Mineral Area
Sedalia, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Mineral Area College on Wednesday night, Oct. 8 at the Smith-Cotton Soccer Field.

Sedalia, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Mineral Area College on Wednesday night, Oct. 8 at the Smith-Cotton Soccer Field.
SFCC (6-6, 1-3 in Region 16) got on the scoreboard first courtesy of a goal from sophomore forward Ella Smith with about 41 minutes remaining in the opening half. Smith was able to beat her defender on the play and then beat the goalkeeper to find the back of the net.
Mineral Area tied the match at one with less than 28 minutes remaining until halftime. Mineral Area scored what proved to be the game-winning goal from a corner kick with about six minutes to go in the opening half.
SFCC continued to battle in the second half but could not find an equalizer.
Freshman goalkeeper Valeria Morales got the start in goal for SFCC.
"We have a couple of injured players right now," said associate head coach Roberto Tucker. "We will continue to work hard throughout the remainder of the season and the playoffs."
The Lady Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a match against Crowder College in Neosho, Mo. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
