Lady Roadrunners continue offensive explosion

Sedalia, Mo- The State Fair Community College (SFCC) women's soccer team defeated Jefferson College 5-0 on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Smith-Cotton Soccer Field in Sedalia.

SFCC (5-3) got on the scoreboard early with a goal from sophomore forward Ella Smith with less than three minutes gone in the opening half. It was the first of three goals for Smith in the match.

"We knew that we needed to jump on them right away," associate head coach Roberto Tucker said. "Jefferson is a competitive team. As the game went on, I knew that our physical conditioning was better because of all the work we did in the preseason."

Freshman winger Brenda Aguilar provided the other two goals for SFCC in the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Valeria Morales picked up the shutout in goal for SFCC.

SFCC will return to action with a game against Metropolitan Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Kansas City. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
