Buscher and Reed earn All-American honors
After one of the most successful seasons in program history, sophomore forward Ellie Buscher of St. Louis, Mo. and freshman guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. earned one of the most prestigious honors a college basketball player can earn.
After one of the most successful seasons in program history, sophomore forward Ellie Buscher of St. Louis, Mo. and freshman guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. earned one of the most prestigious honors a college basketball player can earn.
Buscher was named a First Team All-American. Reed earned Honorable Mention All-American honors. The pair helped SFCC to a 29-3 record. The Lady Roadrunners earned the ninth seed at the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament and became only the second Lady Roadrunners team to win a game at the National Tournament.
SFCC earned the top seed In the Region 16 Tournament.
Buscher was named to the First Team. All-Region 16. Buscher was also named Player of the Year in Region 16 to go along with Defensive Player of the Year. Reed also earned First-Team All-Region 16 honors.
Buscher averaged 13.3 points per game and pulled down 11.6 rebounds during the season. Buscher registered 1.3 steals per game and blocked 2.2 shots per game.
Reed scored 15.3 points per game. Reed pulled down 4.5 rebounds per game and dished out 2.8 assists per game. Reed registered 1.8 steals per game.
"I think it says volumes about our team chemistry and how we played as a team," said Lady Roadrunners head coach Nicole Collier. "It says a lot about Ellie Buscher and the work she put in to get where she is at right now and the same with Chloe. Chloe capitalized on every opportunity she got here. It is a lot about the type of players that they are and the work they put in. It's nice for them to get that recognition."
This is the first time since the 2010 season that the Lady Roadrunners have had two student-athletes earn All-American honors during the same season.
