Roadrunners compete well in Arkansas
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners shooting sports team competed in the Tri-State Event on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22 at the Remington Gun Club in Lonoke, Ark.
Lonoke, Ark.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners shooting sports team competed in the Tri-State Event on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22 at the Remington Gun Club in Lonoke, Ark.
The event consisted of 100 sporting clays, 100 American trap, and 100 American skeet targets per participant.
SFCC began competition on Saturday with sporting clays. Sophomore David Thomlinson of Hughesville, Mo. shot 83. Sophomore Ben Wieland of Bunceton, Mo. shot 81. Freshman Buzz Harris of Smithton, Mo. scored a 78. Sophomore Mason Rohan of Laddonia, Mo. shot a 78. Sophomore Caleb Hensley of Belton, Mo., scored 77. As a team, SFCC shot a 397 of 500.
SFCC also shot American skeet on Saturday. Thomlinson led the team with a 97. Rohan scored 95. Hensley shot a 94. Sophomore Mitchell O'Reilly of Belton, Mo. shot 91. Freshman Logan Pinkham of Belton, Mo. scored an 89. As a team, SFCC shot 466 of 500.
On Sunday, SFCC shot 460 out of 500 in American trap. Freshman Ava Chevalier of Belton, Mo. shot 95. Thomlinson scored 94. Rohan also scored 94. Harris shot 89. O'Reilly scored 88.
Chevalier earned High Overall Female First Place with 253, first in American trap with 95, and first in sporting clays with 76. Freshman Addy Uebinger of Columbia, Mo. earned second place in American skeet with 86 and second place in sporting clays with 73. Freshman Lucy Crocker of Kaiser, Mo. earned High Overall Female second place with 242, first in American skeet, with 88 and tied for second in sporting clays with 73. Thomlinson earned High Overall Male first place with 274 and first in American skeet with 97. Rohan finished third in American skeet with 95.
"The kids shot very well," said head coach Sarah Manuel. "Addy Uebinger and Lucy Crocker have really stepped up for us the last couple of weeks. We had a lot of people who stepped up and did a fantastic job. I'm very proud of them. We have momentum heading into Nationals. There will be over 1,000 kids there shooting from all different levels."
SFCC will return to action on Monday, March 16 at the ACUI National Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.
