Roadrunners open spring at home
Harrisonville, Mo.- The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners shooting sports team opened the spring portion of their schedule hosting the SFCC Freeze Out at the Polecat Creek Shotgun Park on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 8 in Harrisonville, Mo.
Harrisonville, Mo.- The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners shooting sports team opened the spring portion of their schedule hosting the SFCC Freeze Out at the Polecat Creek Shotgun Park on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 8 in Harrisonville, Mo.
The event consisted of 100 American trap, 100 American skeet and 100 sporting clays per participant. SFCC participate in sporting clays and American trap on Saturday. SFCC shot American skeet on Sunday.
The Roadrunners were led by sophomore David Thomlinson of Hughesville, Mo. in sporting clays with a score of 86. Sophomore Mason Rohan of Laddonia, Missouri scored a 77. Freshman Buzz Harris of Smithton, Mo. scored a 75. Freshman Ava Chevalier of Belton, Missouri shot a 72. Sophomore Mitchell O'Reilly of Belton, Missouri scored 71. Chevalier earned top female honors in the discipline. As a squad SFCC shot 381 out of 500.
O'Reilly led the way for SFCC in America trap with a score of 91. Thomlinson shot an 89. Harris scored an 88. Chevalier also scored an 88. Sophomore Caleb Hensley of Belton, Mo. contributed an 87. As a squad, SFCC shot 443 out of 500.
Thomlinson led the team in American skeet with a score of 99. O'Reilly shot a 95. Freshman Logan Pinkham of Belton, Missouri also shot 95. Hensley scored 93. Rohan shot 91. As a squad, SFCC shot 473 out of 500.
"David Thomlinson shot extremely well all weekend," said head coach Sarah Manuel. "He tied for first in American skeet with a 99 and won the shoot off. He tied for first in sporting clays with an 86 and took second in the shoot off. He shot an 89 in America trap for a total of 274 birds for the weekend. Ava Chevalier earned higher overall female. Addy Uebinger shot a PR of 90 in American skeet. Mitchell O'Reilly also had a nice weekend and showed a lot of leadership during this event. This was our first event coming back from break. It's good to have the kids back on campus. We just have to continue to build from here."
SFCC will return to action Feb.21-22 in Arkansas.
