Lady Roadrunners split with Metropolitan Community College
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team split a pair of Region 16 contests on Tuesday, April 14 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kansas City, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team split a pair of Region 16 contests on Tuesday, April 14 in Kansas City, Missouri. SFCC (18-23) won the opening game 6-5, before falling in the second game 6-4.
In game one, freshman third baseman Morgan Marshall of St. Joseph led SFCC offensively, with four hits including a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Freshman pitcher Addison Wallace of Carthage contributed three hits and a run scored. Sophomore catcher/3rd baseman Natalie Crumpler of Exeter scored two runs. Sophomore utility player Jenna Herald of Monett added a pair of RBIs.
The Lady Roadrunners totaled 12 hits in game one.
Freshman pitcher Corinne Tuck of Braymer got the start in the circle for the Lady Roadrunners. Tuck pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up four runs, (two earned runs) on six hits, struck out four, and walked six. Wallace came out of the bullpen for SFCC. Wallace pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up one unearned run on one hit and recorded a strike out.
In game two, Wallace had a pair of hits and a run scored. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill pitched in with a double and two RBIs. Backes also scored a run.
SFCC put together seven hits in game two.
Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Clark pitched four innings, gave up six runs on 10 hits, struck out three, and walked one. Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia pitched two innings out of the bullpen, gave up one hit and struck out two.
SFCC will return to action on Saturday, April 18 for another Region 16 doubleheader at North Central Missouri College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
