The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners softball team lost two Region 16 home games to Jefferson College on Sunday, March 29 in Sedalia, Mo.
The Lady Roadrunners (11-14, 1-7 in Region 16) lost a hard-fought 8-5 decision in game one. The Lady Roadrunners lost game two 8-0 in six innings because of the run rule.
In game one, freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill had a pair of hits including a home run, three RBIs, and a run scored. Sophomore catcher Chelsye Graham of Ash Grove added a pair of hits and a run batted in. Freshman outfielder/utility player Jillian Reller of Elsberry scored a pair of runs.
Freshman pitcher Corinne Tuck of Braymer got the start in the circle for SFCC. Tuck pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up eight runs, on 10 hits, and struck out seven.
In game two, the SFCC offense was held to just three hits. Freshman third baseman Morgan Marshall of St. Joseph had a pair of hits. Freshman pitcher/second baseman Grace Evans of Fulton added a hit for SFCC.
Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Clark pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up seven runs (five earned runs) on nine hits, struck out six, and walked two.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, March 31 in a Region 16 doubleheader at St. Charles Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
