Roadrunners grind out road win
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners men’s basketball team picked up an important 64-56 Region 16 victory over Missouri State University-West Plains on Saturday, Feb. 21 in West Plains, Mo.
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners men's basketball team picked up an important 64-56 Region 16 victory over Missouri State University-West Plains on Saturday, Feb. 21 in West Plains, Mo.
SFCC (15-14, 6-5 in Region 16) led 18-13 with under 11 minutes remaining in the opening half. The Roadrunners pushed their advantage to 37-25 at halftime.
West Plains fought back to trim the SFCC lead to 59-55 with less than a minute remaining in the second half. The Roadrunners made the plays late in the game seal the hard-fought road win.
Freshman wing JP Ndong of Germany/Senegal led the team in scoring with 20 points. He finished his double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds. Ndong tied for the team lead in assists with three with freshman guard Chanler Joseph of West Palm Beach, Fla. Sophomore forward Daniel Garza of Hammond, Ind. added 10 points and a team-high two blocked shots. Joseph and freshman guard Nate Wilder of East Stroudsburg, Pa. tied for the team lead in steals with two.
SFCC will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in their final regular-season home contest against Moberly Area Community College. Tipoff from the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
