Roadrunners sweep a critical doubleheader from Mineral Area
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team faced a 3-0 deficit going into the bottom of the seventh inning.

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team faced a 3-0 deficit going into the bottom of the seventh inning. SFCC responded with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a big 4-3 victory. The Roadrunners won game two 15-1 in five innings because of the run rule on Thursday, April 23.
In game one, the Roadrunners (25-27, 11-19 in Region 16) made the most of four hits. Outfielder Drake Odneal of Smithville, Mo. recorded a double. Catcher Jose Arquez of Columbia provided a big home run and drove in three runs. Outfielder Collin Ross of Branson, Mo. added a hit and an RBI. Catcher Carter Rice of Sedalia, Mo. scored a run. Infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo. had a hit and scored a run. Corner infielder Andrew Hill of Columbia, Mo. scored a run.
Pitcher Hunter Jones of Branson, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Jones pitched six innings, allowed two runs, (one earned run) on three hits. Jones walked six and struck out six. Pitcher Carter Hollingsworth of St. Peters, Mo. came out of the bullpen to pitch one inning, gave up one run on one hit, and struck out two.
in game two, SFCC put together 17 hits. Ross had three hits, including a double and a triple. Ross drove in three runs and scored twice. Carter Rice also contributed three hits, scored twice, and drove in a run. Connor Rice also had three hits, including two doubles, a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Hill had three hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Utility player Malachi Antle of Licking had a pair of hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Middle infielder Ty Hall of Greene City, Mo. had a pair of hits, including a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Missouri added a double. Odneal scored a pair of runs.
Pitcher Maverick Gentry of Polo, Mo. went the distance on the mound for SFCC. Gentry gave up one run on five hits, struck out eight, and walked one.
SFCC will return to action on Friday, April 24 for another Region 16 doubleheader against Mineral Area College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
