The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team finished off their weekend series at Illinois Central College on Saturday, April 11 with a pair of victories.
SFCC (20-24) won the opening game by a score of 4-3 and the second game 8-4.
In game one, infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo. had two of the six hits for SFCC and scored a pair of runs. Outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Mo. and corner infielder Andrew Hill of Columbia, Mo. drove in a run each for SFCC.
Pitcher Evan Bishop of Boonville, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Bishop pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up one run on four hits. Bishop struck out five and walked three. Pitcher Brayden Beckmann of Ashland Mo. came out of the bullpen to pitch 3 1/3 innings, gave up two runs (one earned run), on two hits, struck out five, and walked one.
In game two, outfielder Collin Ross of Branson, Mo. contributed a pair of hits and a run scored. Rice also had a pair of hits, a run scored, and an RBI. Hill contributed a pair of hits including a double and two runs scored. Outfielder Drake Odneal of Smithville, Mo. added a double and three RBIs. Middle infielder Christian Kuchta of Liberty, Mo. drove in a pair of runs.
Pitcher Jake Riggin of Lee's Summit, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Riggin pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up four runs (two earned runs) on three hits, struck out eight, and walked three. Pitcher Maverick Gentry of Polo, Mo. pitched 3 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, gave up one hit, struck out five, and walked three.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, April 14 in a single game at Moberly Area Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
