Three State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners have been named to the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference 2021 All-Conference Baseball Team. Freshman infielder/outfielder Jacob McWhirter of Guelph, Ontario, freshman infielder Austin Warkins of Haysville, Kansas, and sophomore catcher Dylan Thompson of Camdenton, Missouri, were all named First-Team honorees by coaches in the conference.
McWhirter led the team with 14 home runs and a .798 slugging percentage. McWhirter had a .363 batting average in 40 games and finished second on the team in total bases with 99 and extra bases with 26. He finished third on the team with 12 doubles and 43 RBI. McWhirter finished fifth on the team in hits with 45.
"Jacob was our biggest power threat and run producer this season," said Roadrunners Head Coach Jud Kindle. "He has a natural swing with a lot of raw power."
Warkins had a .354 batting average in 40 games and led the team in stolen bases with six. Warkins finished second on the team with 44 RBI and third on the team with 144 appearances at the plate, 51 hits, and 10 home runs.
"Austin was our most consistent offensive threat this season," said Kindle. "He had the ability to play multiple positions, which was also a big asset for us."
Thompson had a .340 batting average in 43 games and led the team with 48 RBI. He finished second on the team in home runs with 11 and slugging percentage at .652. Thompson finished fourth on the team with 48 hits, 11 doubles, 22 extra-base hits, and 37 runs scored.
"Dylan had a great year for us at the plate," said Kindle. "As our catcher, he handled our pitching staff well and did a good job of controlling the running game with his much-improved throwing arm."
The Roadrunners started the season going undefeated in February and finished the season with a 20-26 record, which featured a six-game winning streak at the end of April.
