SFCC baseball adds four student-athletes

State Fair Community College Roadrunners Baseball Head Coach Jud Kindle has announced the addition of four pitchers to his 2021-2022 recruiting class. All four student-athletes had their junior seasons canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and will finish their high school careers in the spring. They have all signed their National Letters of Intent and will begin their academic and athletic career at SFCC next fall.

Garrett Lampert plays baseball at Liberty North High School for Head Coach Ryan Stegall.

"Garrett will be a back end of the bullpen guy for us," said Kindle. "He is a guy who will come in to get the tough outs in the last couple of innings for us. He has a good changeup."

Ben Haug plays baseball at Marshall High School for Head Coach Paul Alberson.

"Ben plays for the Midwest Nationals in the summer," said Kindle. "He had a great summer. We look for Ben to come in and be part of our rotation. He is a competitor with a lot of upside potential who pounds the zone with a lot of strikes. He is a good student off the field."

Austin Droege plays baseball at Concordia High School for Head Coach Nathan Beissenherz.

"Austin comes from a good athletic background," said Kindle. "He is a competitor on the mound. We expect him to come in and compete for one of those starting spots next year. He has a lot of arm side run on his fastball. He has a ton of upside, but needs to continue to work on his off-speed pitches."

John Greenwood is an outfielder/pitcher who plays baseball at Lebanon High School for Head Coach Dustin Young.

"John is an extremely good runner with power in his bat," said Kindle. "We project him to be a good outfielder for us. He has a lot of upside. We have seen him up to 88 to 91 miles an hour on the mound. He is probably our most athletic signee."

Coach Kindle likes what these four student-athletes will bring to the program both on and off the field.

"All of these student-athletes are of high character who do a good job in the classroom," said Kindle. "That is what we are looking for in our student-athletes. All four are exceptionally good teammates, we are excited to get all of them."
