SFCC Athletics golf tourney raises $10,000

The sixth annual State Fair Community College Athletics golf tournament on July 24 at the Sedalia Country Club raised an estimated $10,000 for the Athletic Department.

"The proceeds from the golf tournament will provide scholarships for all the sports programs" said SFCC Athletic Director Darren Pannier. "The community sponsorships and auction items that the coaches were able to secure will fund scholarships for their individual sport."

The 55 teams were separated into four flights, a championship and A-C flights. Winners were:

Championship flight – Adam Braverman, Scott Benbrook and Dwayne Davis, first place. Jaron Lucchesi, Adam Pirtle and Troy Curtis, second place. Three teams tied for third place – Jackson Kempton, Patrick Ferry and Zack Morrison; Dave Floyd, Abe Azan and Lindal Grechus; and Mark Carey, Steve Carey and Dillon Brasher.

Flight A – Five teams tied for first place: Tom Browning, Chris Thompson and Adam Curtis; Chip Thompson, Dane Henningsen and Jeff Tennison; Scott Grass, Brad Beason and David Paul; Steve Pritzel, Jerry Cochran and Alex Pritzel; and Karl Caldwell, Jim McCartney and George Brown.

Flight B – Four teams tied for first place: John Bailey, Rick Armentrout and Alan Marshall; Scott Hewett, Jack Ferrell and Keith Hayden; Roger Grant, Tye Jones and Galen Venters; and Roger Kehde, Tabitha Kehde and Lakin Kehde.

Flight C – Five teams tied for first place: J.R. Shlupp, Jeff Morris and Sean Geer; Judy Schroeder, Sherry Kempton and Susan Van Horn; Kyle Weymuth, Joe Ruth and Kendall Weymuth; Ken Weymuth, Jeff Wadley and Chris Squires; and Will Register, Alan Bankovich and Steven Lane.

"The generous sponsors, participants and the live auction made this event very successful," said Pannier. "It helped to host it in Sedalia, and with adding the four sports last year, more people were involved. The coaches were able to meet more members of the community, and hopefully we will see an increase in the number of fans who come to watch the student-athletes on the fields and courts this upcoming season."
